Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus review

Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus review

With an impressive proposal, Samsung returns this spring, in its established appointment with the Galaxy S series. Its new generation consists of three total models, with the Galaxy S20 Plus possibly being the most complete of the family, if we take into account the factor. costs.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus clicks on all the principles that the Korean company has become accustomed to in its flagships. Excellent build quality, the screen that is a reference point for the whole industry, and of course high performance and advanced features. In short, a complete package that deserves the attention of users who can put their hand deep in their pocket for their new smartphone.

Excellent screen

Holding the Galaxy S20 Plus in hand, your eyes can’t escape its striking screen. For another year, the Korean company incorporates a perfect screen in its flagship, with very vivid, bright colors, which perfectly depicts every detail and proves its enormous know-how in this field. Large, 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED technology with a resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels with HDR10 + support offers an ideal environment for viewing any kind of content. As an icing on the cake comes the rate of renewal at 120Hz (at 1080p), a feature that will be especially appreciated in the community of gamers. Of course, you should know that the setting at 120Hz is optional and as expected burdens the autonomy of the device.

The screen occupies 90.5% of the front surface of the Galaxy S20 Plus and the only distraction is the small hole for the selfie camera, which returns to the center from the left corner that was placed in last year’s Galaxy S10 series. On the other hand, continuing to stay where the Galaxy S10 Plus is and the Galaxy S20 Plus further reduces the curved side surfaces of the screen, minimizing the possibility of accidentally activating applications such as holding the device.undefined

Finally, the height/width ratio is 20: 9, approaching the movie standard.

The quality of the device’s construction is proportional to the quality of the screen. The aluminum chassis, covered with a glass back, gives the Galaxy S20 Plus a premium character and a very nice feel in the hand. Of course, as is the case with all the corresponding surfaces, you will not avoid the appearance of your fingerprints on the back of the device, but now that we are in quarantine, you will probably be used to cleaning your mobile phone often anyway.

High on the back of the Galaxy S20 Plus we also find the array of the quadruple main camera.

High-level photos

From this quadruple camera, we will start our reference to the equipment of the Galaxy S20 Plus. Starting from the top down, we have the high-angle 12MP resolution camera at the top, the standard wide-angle, equivalent resolution in the middle, with an image stabilizer and dual pixel autofocus and the telephoto at the bottom, which gives 3x zoom and is equipped with a 64MP sensor. Next to them is the depth sensor that gives the bokeh effect.

The camera and consequently the photographic capabilities offered by smartphones have become a key criterion for their purchase and the Galaxy S20 Plus is the best package in this field ever created by the Korean company (we have not caught it in our hands the Galaxy S20 Ultra).

The basic wide-angle camera of the device wins the impressions with the beautiful and vibrant colors but also the large dynamic range it offers. Outdoors with rich light, the camera of the S20 Plus will give you very nice results, in detail, even in cases where you will use a little zoom in. Respectively, from this camera, you will get the best result even in low light conditions, a result of the larger aperture. The Galaxy S20 Plus also offers night shooting mode, which improves the result, but at the same time raises the level of digital noise.

Like the S10 Plus last year, the S20 Plus experience with the ultra-wide camera is great. If you like it, like me, the distortions of the ultraviolet lens will be used regularly to capture stunning shots. The photos are very well lit and with a nice dynamic range and with a little practice you will be able to achieve several shots that have a more artistic hue.

The telephoto camera is also the one that raised the most noise this year, as it comes with the 64MP sensor, which is also used to capture 8K video resolution. The 3x zoom that the camera promises is not visual but is practically a crop in the photo given by this particular sensor. In bright conditions, the result is good, even if you press zoom up to (approximately) 10x, but in dark environments, you will not be thrilled.

On the front, the camera has replaced the S10 Plus dual selfie camera with a single one this year, but it offers great colors and upgraded features.

Impressive is the quality of the video that the user receives from the main camera, with Samsung for another year giving excellent image stabilization. As mentioned above, the S20 Plus gives resolution files up to 8K, but the best result I have is the feeling that it is achieved when you go down to 4K or even 1080p. 4K video is also provided by the front camera, with equally good results.

High-level equipment

Thanks to Samsung’s latest processor, the Exynos 990, but also the rich 8GB RAM that comes with the Galaxy S20 Plus is a device that will win you over in terms of performance. It’s very fast, games and heavy applications run great and I have the feeling that there is no way you can betray the daily experience you will have with it.

The Galaxy S20 Plus comes with 128GB of storage but also the ability to insert a memory card, although if you believe that these GBs are not enough for your needs.

In terms of sound, both the phone’s stereo speakers and the set of wired headphones you’ll find in the purchase package (with the AKG signature) will give you rich and full of sound.

The fingerprint reader is also here on the screen, it works with the ultrasound technology that Samsung has been recommending to us for years, and the experience it gives this year is better than the previous models.

Finally, the autonomy of the Galaxy S20 Plus, thanks to the 4500mAh battery, exceeds 24 hours with a medium or even heavy use (depending of course how many hours you play games) provided you have not raised the screen to 120Hz. The device supports wireless and reverses charging, while it is accompanied by a 25W charger that gives full charge in about 1.5 hours.
